Among the 16 programs recommended for discontinuance, 13 received a combin~ rank of 5 and three received a rank of . Nine additionaJ that received a 5 ranking were not recommended to be discontinued. Technology and criminal justice department. • Bachelor of science/ associate of applied · nee/ certificate/ minor, construction technology. Recommended to be maintained with appli d t chnology center assi tance and an additionaJ factµty member. It recei ed a score of 36.3 . • Associate of appli d technology/ certificate/minor, amomotlve technology. Reco.mm nd d to be maintained and relocated to applied science and technology. It received a score of 26.3. • Associate of applied science, cabinetmaking and millwork. Recommended to be maintain d and relocated co applied science and technol gy. While ome programs carrying a recomm ndation of di continuance received higher scores on th quantitative portion of the evaluation, the prioritization committ e also d veloped qualitative criteria that may have had an impact on said recommendations. Qualitative criteria were evaluated with information provided to the committee from department chairs, faculty, and institutional research. Gender is n c related to the programs recommended for di continuance. It ~has not even been part of any criteria " said Templin. The recommendation to cut the education programs in several departments has been done because of low enrollm nt numbers in tho e particular programs. Templin said th e programs might still be pan of the curri uJum in one way or another. "Tltis is what the h acing are for, so we can discuss options of possible alternatives, » Templin aid. One alternative Templin pointed out was to merge education programs in different departments into a consolidated program. imilar options are being explored with programs in the phy ical scienc department. Templin said the relative newness of som programs recommended to be maintained, such as construction te hnology, makes discontinuing th m irrational.
