Express Yourself! •••Get in the Groove campus. The student in this position is also subject to running the student body elections and creates the Student Handbook. The multi-cultural representative tries to provide other multi-cultural students with a peaceful social environment by trying to increase diversity awareness on campus. The representative will also organize activities to serve students in better understanding and accepting multi-cultural experiences. Non-traditional representatives take care of services applied specifically to the non-traditional students at SUU . A non-traditional student is characterized as being married, having children or over the age of 25 . These representatives put together activities, programs and other events for these students. Public relations/communication director appears as an associate for both the print and broadcast media. The director takes responsibility for writing press releases for newspapers and manages public relation campaigns. The controllers track SUUSA's spending , supervise purchasing orders and check requisitions. They also keep a factual statement of SUUSA's financing. The web page designer creates, updates and maintains the SUUSA web page. The designer also sits in the cabinet, and may get involved in projects other than the web. The designer works with other branches of SUUSA, providing publicity and updating weekly events. The senate secretary tracks the time during all senate meetings This secretary also keeps and files the legislation that goes through the senate. The student activities board is the group that plans and executes activities at SUU . It also heads committees for dances, publicity and Thunderherd. Positions in STAB consrst of: assistant to vice president, events director, spirit director, union program director, publicity director and publicity assistant, and SU group leader. The assistant to the vice president helps .the activities vice president in the organization of STAB. The assistant also directs all the dances and other events including movies, barbecues and activities. The events director programs Homecoming Week and Sunfest, which takes place in April. Other events include dances and large conventions. The spirit director organizes the Thunderherd to stimulate the student body during sporting events. The spirit director also puts together pre-game activities such as tailgate parties, face painting and give-aways. The union programming director acts as a director for activities in the Sharwan Smith Center and provides entertainers, comedians and other performers on-campus for the students'. interests. The publicity committee is formed of a publicity director and assistant. They make sure SUUSA activities are publicized and the student body is informed . The SU group leader plans welcome activities for new freshman students. The legislative branch consists of the senate with the academic vice president as acting president.' The student senate is comprised of 15 students. three from each college. These colleges are: College of Business and Technology, College of Education, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Science and College of Perfonning and Visual Arts. It forms the legislative governing body of the student association and has legislative ppwer. The senate's principal responsibility is to represent the students in each college. It also regulates student fees. The senate welcomes all students and listens to any complaints or comments they have. It also encourages students to attend the meetings each week. The judicial branch consists of a chief justice, four associate justices and a judicial council. The chief justice is appointed by the SUUSA president and by three-fourths majority of the senate and the vacancy of the chief justice is filled within four weeks. The chief justices' primary responsibility is to be informed of legal affairs of SU USA and insure all officers meet the qualifications for their offices. This student also sees they are sworn into office. The chief justice has the authority to assign duties to the associate justices when needed.
