Show !MONDAY, JUNE 28, 1999 Falll ad111ission deadline is rapidly approaching Students who plan to attend classes at Southern Utah University for the first time during the upcoming fall semester are being strongly encouraged to submit an application for admission on or before July 1. Before registering at SUU , incoming freshmen must submit an application for admission and an official high school transcript or GED (Graduation Equivalency Diploma) scores. Each applicant should also arrange for his/her ACT (American College Test) or SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) scores to be sent to the SUU Admissions Office. "Several steps are necessary for admission, so we are advising students who have not yet submitted application documents to do so as soon as possible ," Dale Orton, director of admissions. said. uunder the semester calendar which the university utilizes, classes will start August 25 this ysar.n Students who attended SUU during the spring semester of 1999 do not need to re-apply for admission. Students transferring to SUU from other colleges or universities should forward a transcript from each college or university attended. Transfer students with less than 45 credit hours completed should also submit ACT or SAT scores and a high school transcript. A $25 non-refundable admissions fee will be required of first-time freshmen and transfer students. PAGES UNIVERSITY JOURNAL CAMPUS NEWS New students should also attend one of seven one-day orientation sessions planned on scheduled days during July and August. Actual registration may be completed during the orientation days set for July 1, 9, 19, and 30 and August 13, 19, and 20,_ The orientation starts at 8 a.m. and concludes by 4~30 p.m. each day. Orientation may be scheduled by calling the SUU StudeQt Development Center at 586-5419. Students already admitted to SUU may register for fall semester classes either by telephone (586-7714) or in person from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. during any business day. In-person registration will held be at the registrar's offices in the rotunda of the Sharwan Smith Center. A $3 telephone registration charge will be assessed to those registering by phone. Registration for the fall semester will continue without late fees through September 1. Class schedules for the 1999-00 academic year and 1999-00 general college catalogs are available at tJ:ie admissions office or at the university bookstore, both located in the Sharwan Smith Center. Class schedules cost $4 , and catalogs sell for $5 each.
