Show THE ARTS I AND ENTERTAINMENT One acts open tonight Fred Adams Popular student-directed program runs through Saturday :.! ~ ~ ~ 0 ~ u el An improvised farcical version of Shakespeare's Hamlet will be on the same program with three studentdirected one-act plays tonight through Saturday at Southern Utah University. Hamlet, the Comic Dane, w ill join three short plays in the two-hour program presented by the SUU theatre arts and dance department. Performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium. A 2 p.m.Saturday matinee is also scheduled. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for senior citizens and children and $2 for SUU students. "This is a program which is almost sure to offer something for everyone," Fred C. Adams, SUU professor of theatre arts, said. " If one of the plays isn't 'your cup of tea,' the next one may touch you deeply. Each is appealing in its own individual way." The three one-act plays were selected from a dozen student-directed presentations prepared during a fall quarter advanced acting class taught by Adams. "These particular plays were selected to represent those produced in the class on the basis of style, content, and variety," Adams said. "They should reward patrons with a rich evening of theatre while they showcase the work of some very talented student actors and directors. " Hamlet, the Comic Dane, will be directed by P.J. Rockwell, a member of the theatre arts staff. "It is a very funn y presentation," Adams said. The one-act plays are Sure Thing, an interestin g look at 20th century conversation; The Autlwr's Voice, about an author and the person who really does the writing; and Where Have all the 'This is a program which is almost sure to offer something for everyone,' said Fred C. Ruth Jeppson, a junior from West Jordan, will direct Sure Thing; Victor Browder, a junior from Las Vegas, Nev., will be the director of The Author's Voice; and MaryAnna Billings, a junior from Salt Lake City, will direct Where Have all the Lightning Bugs Gone! "The one-act presentations have become an annual project in the las t two years," Adams said. "This year, we have some exceptional directors, and we have some wonderful casts.
