John Ken Stoddard, the son of John Stoddard, was the father of Ellen Stoddard, who married David Eccles, the founder of First Security Bank. Mrs. Eccles is the mother of George S. Eccles. Established more than 30 years ago, the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation has since contributed tens of millions of dollars to Beehive State projects and char ities ranging from Utah' colleges and universities to the Utah Symphony, Ballet West, Hogle Zoo and the Primary Children's Medical Center. The Foundation was crea ted by George S. Eccles, who was an original board member and a pivotal fo rce behind the Salt Lake City-based First Security Corporation, the oldest multistate bank holding company in the United States, and his wife, Dolores Dore Eccles, who h as stood for many decades as a devoted supporter and participant in numerous charitic, and causes throughout the lntermountain West.
