Weekly Reader offered a special kind of contest to the students, promising pay a good sized prize to the school which had their balloon travel the furthest and then get a response back. Well, students in Mrs. Whitneys third grade class really had something to get excited about last week when a reply came from Big Finey, Wyoming, some 165 miles from the launch site at Riverdale School. Ronald Corbin Ball of Big Piney, Wyoming, who is 12 years of age and in the 6th grade sent the following message: Dear Friend, I live on a cattle ranch 28 miles northwest of Big Piney and my father found your balloons this morning while feeding cows in the field. The letter came in answer to several hundreds of balloons which were launched at the school of which a few found their way to the northeastern state.
