Sirs: I commend the young men who were in charge of the program for Roy Summer Recreation. They handled the boys well and kept the total situation low key where it should be. We are looking forward to next summers program. Mrs. Don McCaully ll Although the city owns the parking strip in front of most property, city crews would be kept extremely busy just cutting down these weeds that grow during the spring and summer. If this portion of their work were eliminated by consciencious property owners who took it upon themselves to take care of this bit of land, then the crews could be busy taking care of other aspects, like watering, weeding flower beds, and other more vital services to the city. Dear Sir: About three months ago, I joined the Roy City Volunteer Fire Department. I have received training and instruction that I feel has been very valuable. I was one of the firemen, on July 20th, that helped to fight the fire in Hooper. I, much to my regret, was also one of the firemen taken to the hospital. I thought you might like to know my views concerning my feelings about the Roy City Fire Department. I have been in many volunteer organizations and have yet to experience the cooperation and dedication that is shown by this group of men. I would like to praise the leadership and responsibility that Captain Dick Waters exhibited at the fire. His concern for his men and his knowledge relative to proper care and use of the equipment has to be, in my opinion, brought to your attention. The equipment was used to maximum efficiency and never once abused. His leadership as a fire chief is a compliment to Roy City. 1 truly appreciate the opportunity to be a member of this organization. the businessman doesnt want worry about he down should then weeds, periodically cutting put in a bit of blacktop to insure that these pests dont come back. Then, an occasional washdown with a hose would be in order to let summer tourists and others know that the citizens of Roy care how their homes and business look. to With Roy Days coming up, the town will be on display for those visitors enjoying the activities here. How great it would be if not only for this time, but in the future, pride was restored and enough citizens cared how their businesses and homes looked.
