Indications from the field show that forest and sage grouse hunting should be top notch this year. Chukars and Hungarian Partridge populations are fair in most northern counties with best reports coming from West Box Elder County. Sage grouse seasons vary according to location, and hunters are urged to be aware of the regulations. The following counties in Northern Utah will be open to sage grouse and will have a daily limit of one bird and a possession hunting Sept. limit of two: Box Elder, Cache, Davis, Morgan, Rich, Summit and Weber counties. Chukar and Hungarian partridge will also open on Sept. 18 and run until an. 15, 1977 on a statewide basis. State wide bag limits will be 5 daily with a possession limit of 10. Forefct.gcouse, including both ruffed and blue grouse, will become legal game on Sept'. 18 and the season will run until Nov. 30. Bag limit is four and possession limit is eight. This is an aggregate limit on forest grouse. Hunters are advised that they must possess a valid 1976 combination or small game license while hunting upland game birds. Also they advised to leave one fully feathered wing attached to any field dressed birds for species identifications.
