Thursday, August 9, 1 976 1 Seven hopefuls vie ' for 'Miss Roy crown ROY - Seven lovely young women will compete Saturday evening for the title of Miss Roy. They are . ; Tamara Jean Bitton, Colette Lee Jean Halbert, Renae Lelani Jensen, Jan Martin, Deloris Jane McCoy and Catherine Ann ' Davis, Dixie r Odell. ' Contest chairman, Mrs. Ken Ladd, reports tickets may be purchased from any of the contestants, at the Citizens National Bank in Roy or at the door for $1.50 adults and 75 cents students. The competition will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night at the Roy High auditorium. I A - Tamara Jean Bitton Tamara is the daughter of Mr. and j Mrs. E. Russell Bitton, 4825 S. 2075 is a 1976 W., Roy. This 18 year-olgraduate of Roy High where she was a Royalaire for two years. She was I d i ; t the Royalaires in her secretary senior year, and maintained a 3.7 grade average throughout high of s school. She was a member of the Charlies Girls- teen board modeling for the Bon Marche and is - ' - . presently studying modeling and looking into fashion merchandising as a career. She is employed as a secretary at Roy Realty. Tamara enjoys cooking, sewing, skiing, tennis and most sports. She has studied organ lessons for five years and will perform a jazz dance in the talent competition. She has blonde hair, blue eyes and stands 46 Colette Lee Davis The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen L. Davis, 2251 W. 5900 S., Roy, Colette graudated this spring from Roy High. At she Dixie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald W. Halbert, 4566 S. 1800 W., Roy. A recent graduate of Roy High she was a member of the Royalaires marching group from two years. She participated in the powder puff football games for two years and was a jnember of the track team for Eighteen-year-ol- two years. Dicie enjoys water skiing and all outdoor sports. For the talent competition she will presennt a jazz dance. This blonde, entrant stands 55 and was the second attendant to Miss Roy 1975. Dixie plans to attendUtah State and major in child developement. Renae Lelani Jensen blue-eye- d Renae is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jensen Sr., 1968 W. 6000 S., Roy. At 19, she is a 1975 graduate of Roy High while she also attended Blackduck High before moving to Roy. While in school she was a majorette for the marching band, a drummer for the stage band, and a cheerleader. She was queen of Blackduck, Minnesota in 1973-7Renae enjoys flower arranging and would like to become a dance instructor. She has had special training in Hawaiian dancing and will present a Hawaiian number in the talent competition. She had brown hair and brown eyes and stands 552 tall. She also 4. enjoys swimming, drum- ming, singing and baton twirling. Jan Martin Eighteen-year-olJan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry d has had 12 years of tap will present a dance and dancing during the talent competition She enjoys dancing, sewing, swimming and collecting dolls. While at Roy High she was a JV cheerleader, on the honor roll, in the House of Representatives, Deca Club secretary, Auerbachs Display 1st Place Team and went to state gymnastics in 74. Colettee hopes to pursue a career in fashion merchandising or interior number ' decorating. She has dark blonde han; hazel eyes and is 57 tall. Dix ie J ean Halbert Martin, 4483 S. 1975 W., Roy. A 76 graduate of Roy High, she was on the high honor roll and was first attendant to the Homecoming queen. She was a cheerleader at Sand Ridge for one year and at Roy High for three years, serving as head cheerleder her senior year. Jan hopes to continue her education at Weber State. She has also studied tap, ballet, gymnastics and attended several cheerleading clinics. She will present a dance routine in the talent competition. At 54 tall she has blonde hair and blue eyes. She enjoys water skiing, swimming, crafts, camping cooking, sewing and volleyball. Deloris Jane McCoy The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Garland McCoy. W., 5056 S. 2350 Roy, Deloris will attend Roy High this year as a senior. At 17 she is looking towards general education at Weber State following her high school gradution. She has been in the Royalaires for two years. She has had special training on the piano, flute and drill team and plans a dance routine for the talent section of the contest. Deloris enjoys sewing, music, fishing, hiking, volleyball and gymnastics. Deloris has light brown green eyes and stands 55 hair, tall. Catherine Ann Odell A recent graduate of Roy High, Catherine is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Odell, Roy. Seventeen-year-ol- 2430 W. 4975 S., Catherine has d studied piano for eight years, dance for seven and choir for six years in school, In the talent competition she will present a piano solo. Catherine enjoys reading, sports, " Renae Lelani Jensen piano, singing, writing, tennis, water and snow skiing and bowling. ,,She was Homecoming queen at Roy High, and was on the honor roll, a member of the National Honor Society, won a business math award, college prep award and was named in Whos Who in High Schools of America. She was correspondent for the Ogden Standard, on the executive council, a member of the Chamber Choir, Choir, Royal Choir and a seminary All-Sta- Jaycees finalize plans for parade te ROY The time is near for the Roy Days celebration over the Labor Day weekend. One of the featured events of the celebration is the parade on Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. The parade committee this year consists of the following: Greg Holt, chairman, Lee Holt, vice chairman, Jare Holt, vice chairman, and Scott Baird, vice chairman. The parade route will be the same as last year running from 5700 S. (Pizza Hut) to 4800 S. (Roy High.) on 1900 W. (the main highway in Roy). The highway will be blocked off especially for the parade sometime early Monday morning and until the parade is over. The Roy Jaycees and Roy Police Department ask your cooperation in following the instructions of the road block and Jaycee road guards . Some features of the parade this year will include the first time ever honored Grand Marshall and queen of the parade. Other features will include the numerous floats, posses, antique cars, clowns and lovely young ladies such as Miss Roy and attendants, Miss Weber County Dairy Princess and attendants and the talented marching groups, such as the Royalaires of Roy High. graduate. She hopes to further her education with a business degree in the secretarial field. Catherine has blonde hair, blue eyes and is 554 tall. A queen and two attendants will be following the contest Saturday night. The contest, sponsored by the Roy Jaycees, is held each year in connection with named the annua! Roy Days celebration.
