Her family lived in American Fork until Boots was three years old. Then they moved to Tooele, Utah, where they lived for two years. Then she worked at the Foot Long Hot Dog Stand for ten years. There were two different stands and she worked at both of them, one during the day and the other one in the evening. She moved to Oregon and worked there for about two months. Then she moved to San Diego, Calif., where she lived for two years. She moved back to Ogden where she married Charles I. McKinley, whom she had known when she lived in Ogden before. They were married in May of 1953. He was bom and raised in Ogden. He was in the Marine Corps. He was in the service a total of twenty years. They had one child, a girl, who was born in September of 1954 in San Diego, California, where they moved after they married. Mr. McKinley was sent overseas for almost two years, and Boots and her daughter moved back to Utah where their family was. Mrs. McKinley's mother died when she was eleven years old and her father died in 1966. Boots found out she had M.S. shortly after her daughter was born. But she was still active. She taught primary in San Diego and Hawaii. She was also stake teacher of the eight year old class primary teachers. Boots learned to sew when she was eleven years old. She had to make all her clothes because she was so tall she was hard to fit. She also enjoyed hiking, bowling, dancing and swimming. She was also a professional roller skater and went on all kinds of skating exhibitions. Mrs. McKinley has been in a wheel chair for eleven years. She came to Weber County Hospital six years ago. She is presently on B division. She attends most hospital activities and goes to and Physical Therapy Occupational Therapy daily. She occasionally works on the puzzle we always have going in the workshop. She is a very good humored person and thinks of her illness as something she has to live with and accepts it for what it is. She's a fun person and can always think of something funny to say. Three people from the area have earned advanced' degrees from Utah State University. This group will be appearing at the Utah State Fair in September as finalists in the four state contest.
