The big victory gave Carrillo a big chance to participate in the cultural meet this summer in Japan national AAU in California later on this year. He led the league in assists and steals. recently VETERAN BACKPACKER Dewey Wildoner will be offering free backpack and hiking clinics at the 10th annual Utah Boat, Sports and Travel Show, March 6 at the Salt Palace in Sait Lake City. The backpack clinic will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday and 1 and 7 through Friday, 1, 3 and p.m. Saturday 3p.m. Sunday. 11-1- pm. Skyline or West vs Bear River or Logan Church teams continue play CLEARFIELD - One of the best played Region basketball games held at the North Davis Junior High gym was between the Clearfield Fourth Ward Juniors and the Layton 17th Ward Juniors, with Clearfield w inning a real thriller over their opponents It was a but game with Clearfield coming out ahead by 2 points. Both teams use a good zone defense along with passing the ball around in good team play resulting in a 8 score. The Clearfield team led at the end of the first half with Bruce Ogden high scorer with 9 points. In the 3rd period the Clearfield team got three good outside shots and buckets by Ogden to give them a 6 lead at the end of the period. In the 4th quarter, Clearfield was ahead by 10 points when the Layton team came alive. The good team play by Logan, who got off two quick baskets, along with a foul shot by Victor and another basket by Huff left the Layton team trailing by only 3 points with less than 3 minutes remaining. Both teams then traded buckets and foul shots Clearfield went into a fre with 38 seconds left, to win 3 28 in a game Logan was the high scorei for Layton with 9 points Ogden racked up 15 points for the winning Clearfield team.
