An open house will be held today, Friday and Saturday to let the citizens cf Roy fak o a look at the million dollar building and equipment. It is a day that many people in Roy have been looking forward too for a long time. Today should be a day of happiness and joy and a day to be proud about a job well done We hope that this is what will happen, but the past few weeks have been very trying for all concerned. Questions, conflicts, opinion polls, and even newspaper stories have caused a huge amount of difference about many operational procedures for the center. The biggest of course was the question about the Sunday opening of the center. Many people seemed to feel that the issue was whether the center would be closed on Sunday. We feel that the issue was whether the center would be open on Sunday. Virgil Howe, the expert on the eperatio of the center since he is the man directly in charge, put out a schedule of planned events at the center some weeks ago. In his operations, he wrote that the center would be closed on Sunday. Experts across the area have told him that a pool needs a certain day of rest to do some maintenance on it so that it will not need many repairs before the normal time. As most people know, one councilman thought that the Sunday opening was a religious matter. This we simply cannot buy. We agree that the opening on Sunday should be a cost factor before anything else. One major factor that should be remembered by everybody is that the center has to have a lot of maintenance to keep it in top shape. The citizens of Roy have to pay more than $53,000 a year for the next 20 or so years before the structure is paid for, and we are sure that the citizens dont want it to fall apart before it is paid fur. Now that the opening is set (April 22) we hope that all of the questions ana conflicts are resolved and that the citizens will go over and take a look at what the center has to offer and remember that decisions are ot not easy to make. Its time to work together to make sure that the center runs smoothly and is used to its maximum possibility. ! ?V4 OT3S a ; vV.fv w Vv ALL FINALISTS for the Roy Junior High studentbody office! a aie Greg luiane and Mark Nelson, president; Kurt Bennington and Mike Hanley, vice president, Kaii Price and Julie Garner, 'J f cirh '3 4 752-631- 0 PROVO Ph (no toll charge) 373-860- 0 m M m m ift 9 rtrv l rj ti L yv,ftSlV. What happened was, a lot of people are used to the word membership, and when they ead it they naturally thought tht that only members would get to use the building and nobody else.
