Nevertheless, the two teams never had more than a three or four point lead until the final minutes of play when the game went into overtime. In the three minute overtime the Logan crew survived a comeback attempt for a win and the right to advance to the quarterfinals against Provo. A total of 40 fouls were called during the game with neither team having a clear cut majority, 21 for Layton, and 19 for Logan. It was truly a case of who played worse than the other team was the one that lost the game. The highlight of the night was the 8: 10 p m. contest between the undefeated in 48 games Provo Bulldogs and the largest school in the state, the Skyline Eagles. Brett Vroman was the big attraction of the night, but all of the 9,000 fans that were on hand got to see very little of as he got in the seven-foote- r quick foul trouble and went to the bench most of the time. We quickly learned why Hie Bulldogs are such a fine team, because when their star was out, they seemed to pull together and really hustle at both ends of the court as the Skyline Eagles never really got a chance.
