Dawson, Chugg and Morris ran on the re-elect- ed same V- party that was designated A.A.A. on the of- ficial ballot. i Mrs. Mary Pennington finished third in the council voting with 1173 votes to give her a good shot of being appointed to the council in January when Dawsons councilman spot has to be filled. However the vacancy may be filled by anyone the council wishes to appoint, whether they have served on the council or not, and whether or not they even ran in the election. The person appointed will serve the two years remaining on the new mayors council seat. Robert Stewart, who ran with Puffer and Pennington, finished fourth on the council voting with thanks; pledge to serve well by Marv Clemons am real pleased, and honored to have the voters of Roy support me by this election. We worked hard the past few weeks, and it sure paid off, commented Joe Dawson after being notified that he mayor-elec- t posted a 65 percent margin in winning the Roy City election. It shows what hard work can do. When we first started campaigning, Clark had a good lead with a solid organization, but we caught up at the end. I dont think you will see a great deal of change in the city government, but maybe a lot more harmony and a lot less power pulls. I feel the city can and will work together now, more than in the past, was incumbent Councilman Dennis Chuggs statement. It is a great honor to have the citizens elect me by this majority, and a hope to do my very best for the citizens and what they want to do as far as city services, but I also plan to do what I think is best for the city, and not let one man or group lead me other ways, said ne-- y elected Earl Morris. Dawson, Chugg and Morris each totaled the most votes any Roy official has ever received, as 3582 Roy citizens went to the polls for the city council Election. The turnout of more than 3500 was by far the lar gest in any of Roys previous elections. The total came to be just shy of 50 percent which is considered great for election year. a I Dennis Chugg .. . re-elect- ed votes while independent Ken Colby finished last with 896 votes. 1037 Percentages show that Dawson pulled 64 percent while Puffer tallied only 36 per cent. Its about time we get busy, as a town and as a counand cil, and work to patch-u- p and some poor very repair conflicting relations with Ogden. We should start by attending their council meetings that have anything to do with Roy, commented Mr. Chugg.
