He was nationally recognized for his fingerprinting work by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C., and taught fingerprinting in Montana, Idaho and Nevada. While with the Ogden Police Department he served as desk sergeant, sergeant, lieutenant as well as chief, and head of the record bureau and in other capacities. When Marquardt opened in Ogden and had government contracts, company employees were checked for national security reasons, and Sgt. Hilton took fingerprints and pictures, and identification cards for the company.
