Show Sun Chronicle Thursday, November 23, 1972 Clearfield Courier Wednesday, November 22, 1972 Opens Nov. 30 slsiie opener by Marv Clemons The Falcons of Clearfield high school get the 3 prep wrestling season off to a quick start Wednesday night as they travel to Skj lew for a 7 p.m. match. 72-7- Head Coach Ron McBride will take his varsity in addition to the sophomore and junior varsity squads. The sophs and jayvees will battle Snowmobilers, do you have your pink 1972-7- 3 registration sticker? Black and white is out - pink is in, at least where snowmobile stickers are concerned. The old 1971-7- registration expired last August while the bright pink 1972-7- 3 fiscal year stickers have been available since July 1, 1972. Snowfalls of the last three weeks have brought many snowmobilers out into the hills; but unfortunately, quite a few failed to have their new registration displayed or did not have a temporary permit for a newly purchased machine and were sent to see the judge. Those who obtained their county property tax clearance after the first of January of this year may simply it or ask their county assessor to stamp their 1972-7- 3 2 application card, at least until View at 6 p m. on the same night. The match will count on league records in region two. The Falcons are a class 4A team that competes in region two along with Viewmont, Lay-toOgden, Bountiful, Ben Lomond, and Olympus Last year the Falcons finished second in the region with a 1 dual meet record. Their only loss was to Olympus who Sky n, 10-- the end of December. If their last property tax was cleared during 1971, it must be paid again prior to registration. They include: Martinez (129 pounds), Bob Martinez (135), David Jensen (188), and Ken Johnston (11V. T). The 260 netted a harissued permits vest of 190 animals. Parker Mountain, where hunters achieved 96 percent success, was the most prosperous area. It was followed closely by the Cedar City and Daggett units where 89 percent success was realized. Hunters were least successful in Snake Valley, but even there success was 70 percent. Friday night the Falcons will host Box Elder while on Saturday they travel to Logan. Both games are events, and will be started at 8 p.m. with junior varsity action set for 6 p.m. Those two games will be the start of an 18 game schedule that will see the Falcons compete in region two as a class 4A team against View72-7- non-leag- Ben Lomond, mont, Layton, Ogden, and Bontiful. Head coach M. B. Garrett and his assistant, Lynn Thorne have six returning lettermen with which to build this years squad. The four seniors among those six include: Gus Hoh- lios, a 6'3 forward, Blake Murdock, a 62 forward, Bob Hansen a 6 guard, and Gene Johnson a 5 llguard. Jun the six include Dennis Earl, a 68 center, and Brad Clifford, a 62 for- iors among ward. On his outlook for these six, coach Garrett figures that they are all about equal as far as ability, and that none will be otstanding from the rest. He hopes that they can combine as a solid team with some real balanced scoring. As far as our offensive attack is concerned, we plan to use a more patterned offense and set the ball up into a position for the better shot. Reward for in- formation leading to conviction of persons making illegal elk kills is $100. Only through public reports of such violations can this waste of big game animals be reduced.
