Rampton declared June, 1971 as Dairy Month in the State of Utah. The official declaration sites Utah as one of the leading dairy states in the Intermountain area . . .with cash receipts totaling $46,000.00 for the year up llover the year 1969. Utah - according to declaration - has a great reputation throughout the West for its honor roll mild and delicious cheese products. This years celebration will be even larger and more exciting than ever, said State ADA President J. Edwin Ure. The annual month of festivities was kicked - off June 3, with a breakfast that promised a successful line of activities to follow. Some of the highlights will be: Dairy Night at Derks Field on June 11; a milking contest between radio personalities; and exciting Dairy Princess Contests. Presiding over the activities will be former Weber State basketball coach Phil Johnson as honorary chairman and Miss Gae Lyn Sorensen as this years reining Utah Dairy Princess.
