Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS News North Kaibab to begin sale of fuelwood permits for personal use The North Kaibab Ranger District will be offering personal use fuelwood permits for dead and down fuelwood beginning May 3, 2004 through November 30, 2004. The minimum required purchase is four cords at $5.00 per cord, for a total minimum purchase of $20.00. The maximum personal fuelwood that can be purchased per household per year is 10 cords. Permits can be purchased at the North Kaibab District Office in Fredonia or the Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center at Jacob Lake. Fuelwood permits are also 2 WEDNESDAY APRIL 21, 2004 available by mail. Contact the District Office for details. The North Kaibab Ranger District Office is located at 430 South Main Street in Fredonia and is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MST (closed weekends and holidays). The Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center at Jacob Lake will be open on May 15, 2004, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (MST) daily. The Ranger District asks the public to be prepared for changes in the weather. Please be cautious and wear appropriate clothing. Protests on the proposed Land Use Plan Amendment (LUP) will be accepted from any person who participated in the planning process and who has an interest that is or may be adversely affected by the approval of the decisions. Protest letters must be submitted following procedures outlined in the letter provided with the LUP Amendment. All protest letters must be postmarked on or before May 10, 2004.
