Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS News 3 WEDNESDAY JUNE 4, 2003 Golf course increases rates, city revisits sale of electric system By Rachel Tueller Under new management, Coral Cliffs, Kanabs golf course, has adjusted its rates in accor- dance with other similar courses of its kind. During the May 27, 2003 Kanab City Council meeting, new Coral Cliffs operator Ben IJ Clarkson reported that the course has not seen any changes or adjustments in fees for almost six years. The new rate increase for residents is one dollar, for what Clarkson referred to as public play, or those who do not contribute to the local tax the base. For added fee is two dollars, making the new rate $10 for nine holes and $18 for 18 holes. For locals, the new rate is $9 for nine holes and $16 for 18. Clarkson said it was still the cheapest rate he had found in the state. Multiplay and annual passes are also still available. Jim Matson ofthe Kanab City Energy Board proposed the sale or lease of Kanab City Electric System RFP to the Kanab City Council for consideration. If the council so decided, the announcement of the sale or lease would then be advertised in local and regional newspapers and mailed to interested parties, followed later by a Request for Proposals or RFP. Mayor Kim Lawson explained the process of application. Potential bidders or interested buyers would receive a notification of the sale or lease by mail, and the announcement of such action would as well be advertised in regional papers. Those who actually bid or make offers would be notified by mail and receive detailed guidelines for meeting the legal requirements of the RFP. Bidders should respond to the city with a detailed letter of intent by June 30 at 4 pm. The bidders response should meet all requirements in the letter; meeting each element of the RFP management as outlined and required by the RFP. Engineer Mike Avant of Garkane Power questioned the prior draft RFP which required great detail for bidders in the initial response or offer including 10 year projection plan, rates, power supply, investments, etc. What else is there? asked Avant. non-residen- ts, See COUNCIL, Page 10 HOME EQUITY CREDIT LINES NOW AS LOW AS No origination fees 0V'"n No hassles INTRODUCTORY APR 60-minu- te 0? approval Your interest is fx "N tax deductible 0'' APR AFTER FOUR MONTHS Let's try and remain calm, people.
