Five traffic accidents that involved speed too fast for existing conditions. Once again we were lucky and no one suffered any serious injuries, not even the ejected lady (pure luck). Please remember to keep your speed in relation to the conditions around you (as mentioned in last weeks article). And, please use those seatbelts. Another serious problem shown above are impaired drivers! Both of these situations could have been devastating. One individual driving erratic on our highways with a child in the car! The second impaired of medication when officers located him. A D.R.E. (drug recognition exam) was conducted and individual hitting an innocent the subject was arrested. The family at 11:52 in the mornvictim vehicle in this case, a 1997 ing! Once again, how fortu- - nate that the other driver was paying attention and swerved off the shoulder and avoided a more serious collision. People that drive intoxicated, medicated, tired, enraged, or otherwise impaired are not thinking of your safety when they operate that 4000 pound, or heavier, vehicle. As seen above they sometimes do not even care enough to check on someone that they have crashed into! I do not wish harm to come to anyone, but I know by experience, not to mention the laws of averages, that the time is coming for another bad one. The number of impaired drivers on our local roads is extremely high, and though we are more than happy to catch the ones we can, we cannot be everywhere at once. Once again, please help us, and help yourself by watching for problems out there. Hopefully this topic is not getting too boring to any of you out there, but this stuff needs to be said, a lot! Thanks again. Enjoy your week, but please be careful, be safe, and smile. |
