Ai VIRGIN STATUE OF OUR LADY OF PILGRIM of the most famous images of the Blessed Virgin Mar, the International Pilgrim Virgin statue of Our Lady of Fatima was present for special devotions in St. Bridgets Catholic C hurt h of the Diocese of Salt Lake City on Monday and Tuesday, Octotor 15 and 1C under the sponsorship of the World Apostolate of Fatima (Blue Army) and the Legion of Mary. Members of St. Bridgets and other interested persons were on hand when the Virgin Statue arrived. A short service was held as it was placed in position in the church, followed by a pot luck dinner. Evening services and rosary were held at 7:00 p.m. A Tuesday morning mass was held before the statue was transported to another parish. INTERNATIONAL FTIM; One MILFORD IN MOTION Bert Ryssman, former Milford resident died at his home in Yuof caipa, California at the age 96. He married Nora OLeary of Moroni, Utah. He is survived by his wife and eight children. Before moving to California Bert raised hay on the flat and owned the place now occupied by Louise Wiseman. Randee and Mahna Mellor returned home Sunday after spending an enjovab'e four days in West Point at the home of Randees parents. While there Mahna visited the eye doctor and Randee made a trip to the dentist. They also enjoyed some shopping and went to a couple of movies. On Saturday, a family birthday dinner was held for Randee. It was a really good weekend for all. Mrs. LaPrele Lewis had her son, F rank, of Salt Lake City visiting here over the weekend. Reed and Kleda Gillms went to Salt I ake on September 29th to help Reeds sister, Nina Bingham, elehrate her 90th birthday at her sons Gary and Mollie Bingham. She is staying at their home. They had a lovely dinner. Those attending were her daughter Peggy from California; her son, Allen of Texas; a brother, Clair and wife from Milford; a brother Perry and his wife from Idaho and Jeanette and Gerald Stoker of Cedar City. They all had a very nice visit. And Kleda CALL 387-2B- 72 or 387-28- 81 nesday, October 10, was a field trip and they went and visited the airport and weather station. The girls enjoyed the field trip. Madeline Davis and three children, Mauritia, Jennifer and Michael spent a few days in Fly visiting Nina is doing good. John and Vicki Carter have had friends come to visit for the last two weekends. Last Sunday their reports very good friends from Murray, Utah, Sid and Rowena Dotson came to spend the day. Then this Sunday their neighbors, also from Murray, Vern and Renee Cansey came down for the day. The Brownies have been having some fun meetings. Their last meeting, which was held on Wed with Madelines parents. Tom Acklin, son of Willy and Kathy Acklin, went to Fly over the UEA weekend to spend some time visiting with his grandmother. Congratulations go to Scott and Kym Symond. They became the proud parents of a baby boy born on October 10. He will be named Arthur Lewis. Proud grandparents are Dr. and Mrs. David Symond of Milford. The Boy Scout Troop 4325 spent s, and Saturday at last Friday Red-cliff- by St. George. They spent the night and took a 15 mile hike. Ken and Sonia Munk celebrated their 25th Anniversary this weekend. A surprise party was given in their honor on Saturday night at Mary Wisemans lovely home. Their children Deann Munk, Debbie Munk, Denise and Darryl Moody and David and Annett Moody and children Brandon andCanssagave them the party and presented Ken and Sonia with matching silver wedding bands in honor of their silver wedding anniversary. Many friends also joined in the party to help them celebrate. Sue Ann McCarthy, daughter of Gale and Lola Banks, and tier two children from Tooele have toen here for a visit with her parents and her sister, Shawna Mayr. John and Sandy Waggoner, owners of Smarty Pants here in Milford, became the proud grandparents of twin boys torn October 13 at the University Medical Center. The boys weighed in at 2 lbs. 13 ounces, and 3 lbs. 5 ounces. Proud parents are Shara and Roger Hogan. Mr. and Mrs. Max Stewart enjoyed a lovely vacation last week. First they went toSheradan, Wyoming to visit with Maxs sister. Then on to Lewiston, Idaho to visit with LaRees aunt and uncle. Then they all went to San Francisco for a few days then back to Lewiston. On their way home they stopped to see David and Sheila Stewart in Kaysville and Doug and Laurie Stewart in Provo. Courtney and Brandon Bouck, children of Carol Jean Beckstead, spent the UEA weekend visiting their father, Stan, in Salt Lake City. Johann Meyer spent a few days visiting family in Provo over the UEA weekend. Jean and Jack Wardle recently returned to Wallingford, England after spending three weeks with Jim and Marjorie Sherwood and family. Jean is Marjories sister. When first they arrived they spent four days touring the four corners area with Jims daughter and her husband, Linda and John Conway. They (Jean, Jack, Linda John, Jim and Marjorie) toured the Canyonlands area around Moab. They visited Mesa Verde In ColoMonument Valley, The rado, Goosenecks and also took a boat ride on Lake Powell. They also enjoyed a visit to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. They also spent several hours in Salt Lake C ity, most of that time being spent at Trolley Square. Then Bryan and Helen, Jean and Jack and Marjorie and Jim spent a couple of days in Las Vegas and had a wonderful time seeing the sights there. Bryan drove them to Boulder Dam, where they spent an interesting few hours. While in Milford, they did the usual tour of Bryce Canyon and Zions Canyon and were delighted and very much impressed with everything they saw. Before catching their plane to England, they spent another two days in Tooele with Linda and John. While there they all visited Park City and took a leisurely ride through Heber City, Kamas, Midway and on through the Uintahs. The autumn foliage was beautiful. While in Milford, they were entertained by Marilee and George Connell, enjoying a lovely meal of barbequed chicken and all the trimmings. Jean and Jack were very much Impressed by the kindness and friendliness of the Milford people, in fact by the friendliness and helpful attitude of everyone they met. Being visited by friends and relatives gives us an opportunity to take them around and once again learn to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us - and which is within such easy reach. Also visiting at the home of Jim and Marjorie recently were Jims sister, Rhoda and her husband, Charlie of Martinez, California. They were here to visit Rhodas sister Nora Wright who is in the hospital. HELPFUL HINT: Egg whites freeze perfectly for up to one year. In January, 1984, the Hospital Board received a petition signed by nursing 694 Beaver City residents petitioning the City to construct a home hospital facility. This petition was given to the Beaver City Council, who, after reviewing it, instructed the Hospital Board to proceed with plans for the project. A "Certificate of Need" was applied for and has been received from the State allowing Beaver City to proceed witn the expansion. The next step in the process is to seek voter approval of the bond issue for the financing of the project. |
