The dramatic finish in the Cedar School gym was fitting for rC tty - as all star game pitting the best 1A eM U . players from southern Utah against the best from northern ' Utah. The game was sponsored by the Utah Chapter of the National Mul-tip- le Sclerosis Society with proceeds troni the game going to benefit the society. Chad Richard of Union took the ball to the one yard line and then Kyle Wilson of Morgan carried the ball into the endzone. The extra point was missed and the North offense wasnt heard from again. In the second quarter the Souths first touchdown was scored by its defense. The North defense held the South on the three yard line and took possession of the ball. On Its first play the North lost two yards. On the second play Murdock pitched the ball to Wilson In the endzone. The bad pitch was fumbled and recovered by Randy Reed of Kanab In the endzone for a touchdown. The South took a 21 -- 6 lead to the locker room at halftime. All of the second half scoring was done in the third quarter. Fric Dotson of Beaver scored early in the period on a draw from seven yards out and the South led 59 2A Football Game. When it was over, the South had crushed the North 50 G. Hutchings threw two touchdown passes and Marshall ran for two over the out -- manned North squad. Hutchings edged Marshall out In balloting for the most baluable player award. "We were a little more of a unit than they were, South coach A1 Marshall said postgame. "We took the steam out of them. We had more speed and more quickness than they did. Jan Smith of Morgan High School, the Norths head coach, said his team made a couple of mistakes early In the game that gave the South momentum that couldnt be stopped. Most of the fun was the week preparing for the game Smith said, but he added that It would have been fun to win the game too. Hutchings guided his team down the field with a good mixture of passes and runs to about a foot from the goal line. From there Marshall put the South on the scoreboard with a dive up the middle.
