The Dale Simons team has plenty of weight to throw around but lacks the fleet of backs hes been accustomed to playing in scoring roles. The South team posted a 6- -2 record last year while n ( i A-?- - b W' vV A ' winning Region Twos Division Two and placing second in Region standings. How close Simons and his assistant Moroni Schwab can come to matching this mark or bettering it depends on how well his backfield develops. Cal PouIscxl rated one of the finest backs in the state last year, is back with two letters in South football. The 175 pound athlete will 1, run from halfback. Joining Poulscn in the backfield will be fullback Blaine Stonebreak-e- r, a senior 165 pounder; and halfbacks Dave Hanseiy senior 150 pounder; and AndyArchu-lett- a, sailor, 155 pounder. At wing back off Souths unbalanced Wing-- T will be Dean Tuft, Cordell Thompson, and Cliff Strong. Tuft is a 170 pound senior; Thompsons ' 150 pound junior and Strong, a 150 pound junior. Defending Rocky Mountain regional softball champions Murray State Bank dropped a 5- -2 decision to Cheyene, Wyo., Monday to assure that no Utah team would win the 1966 title at Colorado Springs, Colo. It was a long weekend of play in the rain for the five Utah teams that ventured to Colorado in quest of softball honors. The five teams making the trip included the defending champions, Metro champions West Construction, runnersupr Pehrsons G.E., Don Blair, and J & N Body Shop. Colorados John W. won the title after Utah teams eliminated each other in the four-da- y tournament. Only one game was played the opening day. J & N Body suffered its first loss in the test A jammed schedule Saturday saw Murray State Bank drop a 1 decision to Acme Deliver; Pehrsons G.E. drop West Construction, 4; Murray State Bank then defeated Don Blair Photo, 0 with Pehrsons dealing the blow to Blair eliminating Photo with a 7- -3 win.
