Coons, the schools outstanding basketballer is a good hitter, has good speed and works the double play with the smoothness of a pro. Working the double play with Coons are Randy Rush-to- n and Tom Mori. The two are rated a toss-u- p tor varsity play with Mori rated a better gloveman ami Rush-to- n the better hitter. Rushton is a 9, 150 pounder while Mori is quick at High Schools Cyprus baseball team is down for the first half but the Paul Haynie club isnt out and is one of the darkhorses to figure prominently in second half play in Region Threes Division One. The Pirates, young at most positions, have yielded to more seasoned clubs in first half play though the Haynie baseballers do own a victory over 1965 high school champions West High, 17-- 4. But Hie Tin over the defending prep champions was followed by a 7- -9 loss to Skyline; a -5 defeat at the hands of Granger and then a loss to Granite. The Haynie team has a tough road in the final half of play. Included on the Pirate schedule are Olympus (Fri-day- X Skyline (May 3 at Cyprus) with the club drawing a bye May 6 to aid the season. Tuesday, Cyprus met Granite in what was slated to be one of its toughest encounters of the season.
