All m all, a lot of money must have changed ands on November 26th The stores will probably continue to be crowded rotn now until Christmas ..so a word to the wise ind the along with the merry holiday shoppers will be a goodly crowd of pickpockets, mrse snatchers, and opportunists A wily et can remove a man- - s w allet w ithout the slightest trouble. Purses can be removed altogether, or leftly opened and the contents taken And the opportunists are busy looking for preoccupied shoppers who set their purses down and then wander off to look at a rack of clothes ..or the absent-minde- d shopper who leaves her charge -- plate on the counter for a moment If you want to shop ..and still come home with something . guard your purse. Lock the car, putting everything in the trunk and then lock it Shoving packages under the front seat is just like leaving the key in the mailbox: it s a direct invitation to help oneself! pick-jock- Cottonwood Books in the Mall, but they let me finger the merchandise. And that, alone, is a treat, especially when the merchandise is something as beautiful as the Sierra Club Format Series. These are exquisite books, full of magnificent color photographs, and would make great Christmas presents. There's "The Grand Canyon, Gentle Wilderness, the Sierra Nevada," "The Place No One Knew - Glen Canyon of the Coloand 'Everest, the West Ridge. Also In rado, the real "gift" category is the Praeger Art Book Series, illustrated paperbacks of art masterpieces, to "how to" make lovely presents And Natural Parks of the West" is a beautiful and informative book How about one of the funniest little offerings of a wry and humorous the year, study of the Klu Klux Klan. There's always Peanuts, and the Peanuts calendar, and "Happiness is a Friend Who Loves You." I can get lost in a bookstore for hours and hours. The only trouble, if I stay around Cottonwood Books too long, someone puts me in charge of the cash register and takes off for a break. Im better at reading than running cash registers (But I'm learning ) dening their "Klan-Destine- Twentieth Century Art The Sunset "Picasso," Series of books, from cookbooks to travel to gar Handcraft Supplies At Skips Talk about putting a tiger in your tank ..Skip's in Holladay has a tiger by the tail Skip started out with some models and trains ..and then he added craft supplies. ..and now those craft items are starting to take over. Candy For The Gourmet Group Victorians frowned upon gifts from young gentlemen to young ladies, with the exception of candy, flowers or books. And that sentiment still holds true today: personal gifts to girls one does not happen to be engaged to are not really correct. But a gentleman can never go wrong when he presents a big box of chocolates, especially if the box says Cummings Studio Candy. If you're a real chocolate lover, and most of us are, youve never really eaten chocolates until you've tasted the candy Paul Cummings makes. All Cummings Studio Candy is made right there at thwone. location, 8th South and 7th East, and all of it ps sold there. At Cummings Studio Candy, the Christmas making starts about the first of December, and the chocolates are not frozen, but stored at a cool temper- ai I 1 CARDS 322-49- 82 Decorate For The Holidays If you want to spend a fascinating hour or so, wander around in Norman's Floral Arts in Iust Village.
