Bamberger, the Community Chest and the Salt Lake District Dental Society. of The service was originally for elementary school children, then extended to junior high in 1936 and high school in 1943. Volunteer assistance in this effort is provided by the community's dentists through the Utah Dental Society. Referals who are eligible come from many sources including social workers, L.D.S. Bogarte, 4222 Holladay Boulevard. 1 ol afru l lo Hold Council Fire The most Important event of the year for Camp Fire Girls Is their annual Grand Council Fire, planned for Friday November 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Granite Park Junior High School, 450 East 3700 South. Mrs. Frances L. Peterson and Mrs. Helen Budge, operators of Brooksdale Center, began working with trainable children In 1956 at Fairmont Park In the first Day Care Center in the Salt Lake area. In 1961 they felt the need of a center more conveniently located In the southern part of the county, and subsequently opened the present center on September 5, 1961, at 500 West 6400 South. They were assisted by Interested people and In the organisations The center opened Its doors with 12 children in attendance and a license from the State Department of Public Welfare tor 20 children. During the next year the enrollment Increased to 18 children. The Center operated originally on finances from tuitions and donations. In 1963 Brooksdale became Incorporated and State funds were made available to help maintain the Center which had expanded and moved into Its present location, with a license to serve 24 children. At die present time children are attending from the outlying areas of Murray, Sandy, Draper, Salt Lake City, Hunter, Taylorsville and Kearns.
