Show REVIEW, B4 September 2, 1965 Westminster Floribunda Garden Club Slates (Happiness Show Names Dean 9 "Happiness Inside and Out will be the theme at the second flower show of the Floribunda Garden Club, Tuesday, September 7, at the Garden Center, Park, from Sugar House 2:30 P.M. until 5:00 P M , and from 7:00 P.M.until 9:00P M. According t? Mrs. James L. Knearem, show chairman, the deadline for entries is September 3 for garden club members and their friends. Those submitting entries must contact Mrs. Irvin Pinkston at 467-713- 7. Assisting Mrs. Knearem with the show arrangements will be Mrs. Charles H. Fraley, president. Other committees include Mrs. Kenneth Sberk and Mrs. LeRoy Pia, classified committee; Mrs. Joseph Smith, Mrs. Lester Hall, staging committee; Mrs. Herald Anderson, judges; Mrs. Edward Pack, Mrs. James Ross, clerks; Mrs. Charles Fraley, Mrs. Harold Anderson, Mrs. George F. Grass and Mrs. Ival V. Goslin, hospitality. Mrs. Eugene Falkenrath, Jr. and high school committee; Mrs. Harold Anderson and Mrs. Marvin Forsha, awards committee; Mrs. Franks. McDonald, Mrs. Kenneth Sherk, publicity; and Mrs. Howard Brown, education chairman. The show is to be a standard flower show and the winning entry will receive a silver bowl to be presented that evening. Education Minister A newcomer was welcomed by the congregation at the Holladay Community Church recently and will assume the role Education Minister at the sanctuary. She is Miss Marie La Brecque, a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan. She obtained her B A. degree from Olivet College, Olivet, Michigan, In 1962. She has since orf Of Students studied and worked at the Hartford Seminary Foundation in Hartford, Connecticut. Although Miss La Brecque has had a great deal of experience working in youth programs, this will be her first position as Minister erf Christian Education. She was formerly employed as Connecticut State Advisor for the a youth Pilgrim Fellowship in the United organization Church of Christ. While serving at the Holla-da- y Community Church she will work with all age groups and will direct teacher training classes. In addition, she to will also serve as advisor adwith consult youth leaders, ult lay leaders and assist the Rev. Horace M. McMullen, church minister, with the present program. Before accepting this parat Westposition minster College, Mr. Stewart was the manager of personnel and security at Air Force Base in California and previous to that time he served as supervisor of labor relations and wage administration for the three Cleveland, Ohio, plants of the Ford Motor Company. Mr. Stewart gained his educational counseling experience primarily at Allan Hancock College in California. She and their four young children will join Mr. Stewart in Salt Lake City soon. Mr. Robert M. Canada and Mexico came to this conference, whose theme was "Leadership Through Learning for God and Country " Miss La Brecque brought with her a wealth of new creative ideas she plans to initiate into her program. One Van-denb- Stewart assumed his duties on August 9. ' A native of Sharpsville. Mr. Stewart Pennsylvania, served in the U. S. Army Signal Corps for four years during W.W. n. He attended Bowling Green State University where he was awarded his A degree in history in B 1950, and his M.A. degree in guidance and counseling in 1962. In that same year, he was awarded his B. S. degree in education. Since 1962, Mr. Stewart has been studying at the University of California in Los Angeles where he expects to receive his Ed. D. degree in guidance and counseling soon. 'Ar County Siveetheart To Vie For Miss State Fair Title highlight of the Utah State will Fair, September be the crowning of "Miss Utah State Fair" on the concluding night. The contest will be held at the Riverside Stake Center just off the fairgrounds at 947 West 1st North, beginning at 7:00 P M. Each of Utah's 29 counties has been Invited to submit one contestant. Salt Lake County will send Vicki Tolman 18, who was chosen County Sweetheart on August 16. Bnmette Vicki, who stands 5 I", will present a vocal solo for her talent entry. She is the daughter erf Mr. and Mrs Lena Rasmussen, 4887 South 4860 West, Kearns. Contestants will appear in bathing suit and formal dress for the contest and will present a three minute talent routine. They will be judged on the following basis-- . 50 per cent talent, 25 per cent beauty of face and figure, and 25 per cent personality The girls will register at the Hotel Utah at 10:00 A M on September 14. At 3:00 p M the same day, they will tour the 1965 Utah State Fair, and at 8:30 P M., they will be guests at the Ice Capades. On September 15 at 2:00 PM, they will be honored by Mrs. Calvin L. Rampton at a tea at th governors mansion. Special incentives are the prizes offered to "Miss Utah State Fair."
