Staks Bevy of Christmas pieces ready for concert night at junior high The annual Uintah Youth Orchestra Christmas Concert will be Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 : 30 p.m. in the Vernal Junior High School auditorium. It is free to the public. Featured performers at the concert are all four of the youth orchestra groups as well as the premiere presentation of a youth symphony made up of Orchestra IV and Uintah High School band members. will I Orchestra perform Twinkles and O Come Little Children. This group is made up of the beginning students, most of whom began playing this fall. They are under the direction of Ora Fay Oviatt and accompanied by Julie Walton. Orchestra II, students who have played at least one year, will perform Hark the Herald Angels Sing, O Tannen-baum- , Jolly Old St. Nick, and Go Tell It On The Mountain. This group is also under the T-Shi- rts Christmas Hours: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Beginning Dec. 4 direction of Mrs. Oviatt and accompanied by Miss Walton. The more advanced Orchestra III musicians, who are directed by Curtis May and accompanied by Suzanne Ukranian Hales, will perform Christmas Medley, Carol, Adeste Fideles, and Christ Was Born on Christmas Day. White Christmas, Ill Be Home for Christmas, and Sleigh Ride will be performed by Orchestra IV. They will also combine with the band Andersons to present Leroy Christmas Festival. A Thanksgiving dinner was enjoyed. Following the dinner, the Manila Senior High band entertained them. This group was under the direction of Steven Crunk. Those participating were David Briggs, Lisa Briggs, Genevieve Dickerson, Angela Erickson, Stacie Olson, Terry Reed and Troy Skabelund. The parents of the kindergarten class were guests for a Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 27. Mothers brought special dishes for the dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Murphy enjoyed Thanksgiving in Evanston, Wyo., at the home of their son and Mr. and Mrs. Kevin daughter-in-law- , Murphy. Staks Main Christa Jensen arrived in Manila Wednesday afternoon. A former roommate now living in Denver, Colo., who was on her way to Salt Lake for Thanksgiving, brought her to Manila. Christa has been staying with her baby in the Childrens Hospital in Denver. Orchestra IV is made up of students have played together for up to six years. The youngest member of the group is and the other musicians range in age up to seniors in high school. Most of the students practice a minimum of an hour a day plus they rehearse as a group at least five hours per week. According to those who direct the orchestra, it takes a great dedication to be a member of Orchestra IV, and the music they produce attests to that fact.
