Show rAC2 SIX THE UINTAH BASIN FARMER UINTAH COUNTY FARM BUREAU F. O. LUNDBERG, First LEROY CARROLL, Second J. A. CHENEY, Treasurer J. N. LYBBERT, Secretary A. THEODORE JOHNSON, President Vice-Preside- nt Vice-Preside- nt JUNIOR FARM BUREAUS. The following comment appeared . In The Tribune on Uintah Countys Boys and Girls' Club Fair: Ope cannot but be attracted by from Vernal the announcement that a Junior Farm Bureau Livestock Fair will be held there September 23 and 24. This event 'will be conducted solely on educational ; lines and shaped to acquaint the fedult residents of the Uintah Basin ' With the purposes and accomplishments of junior farm bureau, and club work. In some respects it will be a Junior County Fair, for the departments will be similar to those found at - the legitimate county fairs. Any district which pays as much attention to Junior farm bureaus and girls clubs as the f and boys Basin is doing is building Uintah Erastus Peterson, 4 for the future. Uintah County agricultural agent, but In reality the agent for the en-tiBasin, is sponsoring these ed- ucational units, at every turn, and Junior Farm Bureau now i the functioning in his territory is an 'r excellent example of what can be done along this line. On the whole, Utah may be and classed as a leader in boys girls club work. Utahs leadership ,is du to the general spirit of cooperation end advancement generally found in agricultural communities of this state. The strength of the Utah State Farm Bureau and marketthe affiliated ing societies, which stand out above any similar grouping Is traceable to this fundamental factor. - i ' . re - . Winter Stores for Bees When honey in the hive is not of it is unsafe for Jthe best quality, in winter stores any place where the Ao not have frequent flights bees during the winter, viz, almost every week. In the North, abo'ut 10 or 12 pounds of sirup made from two parts granulated sugar to one part water should be fed as soon as the bees have cease,d brood rearing, as an insurance' against the danger of poor .honey. It is wiser, however, food to have an upper story or chamber already filled with the finest honey of the season, ready to place just above the brood chamber when the section supers or other surplus arrangements are removed. This will do away with the need of fall Or spring feeding. Have you put your tools under shelter? They cost money. We saw the following tools In the weather the past week: Six small harrows, nine turning plows, five five rakes, four grain-drillriding-cultivator- s, s, one three mowers, one two buggies, but roller, 15 wagons, wheat-binde- r, NO FLIVVERS. Every farmer in the Basin should start and lay plans early this fall for an ice harvest, it will mean a saving of many dollars next summer in the handling of milk and cream say nothing of the convenience to his wife in caring for eatables.
