Friday was no exception for the Davis defense. We bent but didnt break," coach Jim Dickson said. They gained quite a few yards on us around 240, 1 think but we kept them out of the end zone fof the most part, which I was proud of." Dickson was again pleased with his teams performance in the face of what he termed adversity. You might wonder what possibly could have gone wrong for Davis after seeing the final score, but Dickson pointed out the Darts lost two fumbles in the scoreless second period. We had some things go wrong lost a couple of fumbles in the first half but again, like against Woods Cross last week,, when the kids met adversity they responded to it well. I am really proud of them for that," he added. Davis took an early 14-- 0 lead in the first quarter on an touchdown strike from Dart 18-ya- rd quarterback Casey Lloyd to tight end Roger Clawson and a sweep by wingback Chris Card. The aggressive Dart defense kept Bountiful out of the end zone until, with just three minutes left in the contest. Bountifuls sophomore quarterback Joey Covey broke loose as he scrambled on a passing play and raced 66 yards for the only Bountiful 48-ya- rd score. Braves coach Kim Peterson said his linebackers Bret Balderson and Darrin Palmer anchored the d defense while the defensive combination of Dusty Jacobs, Steve Wright, Mike Tobler and Ryan Rushton played well against the potent double-winCard had 144 yards rushing for Davis while fullback Mike Robin0 son turned in his usual back-fiel- g. 80-9- yards. I cant really single anyone out on the team, because it is always a team effort. If the line doesnt block well the backs dont pick up the yards. Its a team effort on defense too, Dickson added. longtime Resident Avid Bountiful High Supporter Special to the Lakeside Review Bountiful football or basketball BOUNTIFUL Three seemingly unrelated events occur regularly at Bountiful high school to remind students, athletes and crpaches that they have full and undying support from at least one Jnember of the community. Falcons Alone At Top I DUANE THOMAS 3-- CLEARFIELD Looking alot like the famed Denver Orange Crush," Clearfield relied on a strong defense and the big play to upset favored Bonneville 10-- 7 at falcon field Friday night. The win, combined with a loss by Box Elder to Weber, puts Clearfield all alone in first place of Region at And the Falcons are very close to securing a state playoff spot. The Clearfield defense dominated the game, forcing several miscues. The Falcons sacked the Lakers quarterback five times and Clearfields Mark Adams had two interceptions, both at critical times. After a scoreless first half, Clearfields Gregg Boseman took ia handoff and raced 62 yards on the Falcons first play of the seoend half. iCVThe Laker defense put up a stand of their own and the Falcons had to settle for a field goal. i 1 3-- 0. A couple of plays later Falcon quarterback Brad Sherwood hit Boseman for 15 yards and a first down on the line. Laker This set up big play number two. Adams extra point was good and the Falcons led 43-ya- rd 40-ya- rd 10-- 7. ' In addition to their tough defense, the Clearfield special teams kept the Bonneville offense with its backside pinned against its own goal line most of the evening. ' Our defense hung in there and they did the job for us tonight. Overall, it was a great team effort, Hancock added.
