Show 63 Lakeside Review North, Wednesday, Dec. 1 14, 1983 Christmas Book Helps Keep Youngsters Busy so anything with an. angel on LYNDIA GRAHAM Review Correspondent or an LAYTON Keeping children from being underfoot but still keeping them caught up in the Christmas feeling can sometimes be a real challenge and television often wins out over creativity when mother needs a few minutes to complete a task that cant be seen by little eyes. The answer might be a family Christmas book that is made by the children during those moments when mom is busy. Several local women have tried the idea. Mariann Thorsen of Layton and Ann Smart, Kays-vill- e have used the book with success. Covers for the book can be simple or elaborate, ranging from a simple scrapbook, purchased at a store, to a' handmade book with plastic covered pages. Any large scrapbook type book will do, but be certain that it has large, sturdy pages that will accommodate many turns and layers of glude. An ABC type poem is the basis of the book so it needs at least one page for each of the letters of the alphabet. It works well if both facing pages can be used for One letter. Each page can be expanded from year to year if desired or it can be a one year only -- fabric-cover- ed project ZTTie pictures to be glued on each page correspond to the poem. For instance, A is for angels it H is for holly with berries so V is for vixen, the lively red, to make into wreaths to deer, he always help Santa , verse becomes an addition for that pager. Each page can and should have as many additions as can be found which makes doing it over several years a real advantage. Old Christmas cards are one of the best sources of Magazines and newspapers are also good. Coloring books and Christmas wrapping paper have cute pictures. In short, anything that can be cut up will work. Even 'a flat favor from a Christmas party will do if it isnt too thick. Use the following poem or have youF children write one of their own for a truly personal Christmas book.
