What has happened to the e City Cemetwe buried our loved Since ery? one there, we have watched the cemetery slowly look more and more unkempt until we can no longer let it go without speaking out. We are fully aware of the mud flows that have been and are still hitting the area, but the condition of the cemetery didnt just happen this year. Each year it gets worse and worse. This year as Memorial Day approached we thought that the lawn would be cleaned up, watered and mowed but on Memorial Day it wasnt. Why not? The ground was hard. When we went to poke wires into the ground to prevent our vases of flowers from tipping over, the ground was so hard that the wires bent. In contrast to the Cemetery, when we went up to Brigham City on the Thursday before Memorial Day we found the lawn being mowed and watered and each and ev-- . ery headstone was being trimmed around. They didnt even run over the headstones with the mower. Instead the blade of the mower was lifted up and the headstone was moved around with a hand held gas trimmer. If there isnt enough manpowe er on the Cemetery crew to take better care of their cemetery then why not put some of the people who are receiving public assistance to work and let them help take 4 Layton-Kaysvill- ; Layton-Kaysvil- le . Why was that practice replaced with a larger flag in the corner of each block? We feel that this is not fully recognizing the veterans for the contribution that they made in defending our country and the the flag on our family member. I know that the youth groups that some of our young family members belong to are to put in so many hours of service to the that there are others because we overheard a few comments e on how the Layton-Kaysvill- Cemetery used to look so much nicer than it did this year for Memorial Day. Calves are often jabbed with electric prods, frequently, directly on the anus, so the calf will lurch out of the gate when it is opened. Calf and bull dogging is done at high speeds. Ribs are often broken, skin torn away, even broken necks occur. The animals are in such pain, shock, and terror that many cant even get up from the ground, and for hours they shiver in pain and fright. Many die. Most end up in the slaughterhouses, for all the abuse theyve endured. All are Review Editor: Rodeo animals are savagely tortured to make them perform in different events. Painful electric prods, spurs, and flank straps are used to make them jump out of the chutes. Rodeo horses and brahma bulls buck because leather straps are cinched up around the unprotected areas of the flank, behind rib cage, and in front of the hind legs. Many animals have tight cinches across their genitals. The strap is as tightly pulled as possible, as the animal leaves the chute, causing pain, abrasions, and burns. Horses become aware of the leather strap, fight to keep out of the chute. They are then whipped with riding crops and jabbed with cattle prods to keep them bruised and bleeding, some- times, even under the skin. more, was attestStewart, Denver, Colorado, investigator for the All this and ed to by Phil Humane Society of the United States.
