Show 12A Standard-Examin- Monday August er 11 1980 City Tables Petition DEAF BLIND receive transportation from their home to school and back again Some parents will be reimbursed for transporting their children but exceptions must be written into the student’s Individualized Educa- tion Program (IEP) Students in other areas will receive reimbursement for travel to and from school or be transported by their home school district A big change is weekend transportation for dormitory students The new policy would require every student who lives within 90 miles of the school to go home every weekend Students living beyond that distance will be reimbursed for every time they go home and they must go home a minimum of three times Administrators say sending most of the students home every weekend will help cut dorm costs by as much as $60000 and encourage more responsible parenthood for some people The new policy would be the ideal say school administrators but they don’t know if the legislature will allocate enough funds for an ideal on Aug 26 Three representatives from the USDBPa-rent- s Coalition met with the superintendent both principals and the transportation specialist Thursday to look over the new policy that is slated to go into effect for the 1980-8- 1 school year The representatives had no major objections but said they could not speak officially until the entire coalition had a chance to discuss the policy The coalition is scheduled to meet Wednesday in Salt Lake City The new policy is surprisingly different from the first one presented three months ago But those three months have been turbulent for the administration Displeasure with the first policy organized the parents into the tenacious coalition In June the school was the loser in a due process door-to-do- Days Celebration And direct- ing the oper- ation will be the club’s presi-ff- d pnew e n t Roy IHancock Hancock was elected along with a slate of new officers last month The mobile
