He is presently serving as bishop of the Sunnyside Soldier Summit to dissolve ByARVA SMITH Staff writer The town of Soldier Summit, located on U.S. Highway 6 almost halfway between Price-an"Provo, is about to be dissolved although no im- mediate changes are expected in the lifestyle of the one half to e one dozen residents. A dissolution order, agreed full-tim- upon by county commissioners from Wasatch and Utah counties, whose borders the town straddles, and Soldier Summit officials, will be submitted to a Fourth District Judge for his signature. The order will take effect once it is signed and published for four weeks. Guy Burningham, deputy Utah County attorney, who has spearheaded the dissolution effort, said that a special service district will be formed to replace the former city government. The special service district will have a three-memb- er governing board including a commissioner from each of Utah and Wasatch counties and Don Chambers, Soldier Summit mayor. The special service district will give the counties much more control of Soldier Summit which has no provisions for sewer or water services. The annexation of 4,000 acres of county land a few years ago by Soldier Summit led to, fears that the town would allow development without adequate building and zoning restrictions. Burningham said that he did not think there was any mill levy or tax collection last year in the town. Many people have said that Soldier Summit has great potential for recreational development although the environment is somewhat fragile and special precautions may be needed. If we get the land back now, we can control the development and quality of the development, Buck Rose, Utah County planner, said. Burningham said that people who already have lots that are smaller than those required by Utah or Wasatch County buildings regulations could probably build on them. But street and water and sewer development would have to meet county and state board of health standards, he said. Street maintenance and fire protection would also be required.
