Show Tuesday, May 2C Sun Advocate Price, Utah 3B 1992 DUCATION names CEU T ami Davis and Brent Lynn Bills, both of Price, will be covaledictorians of the College of Eastern Utahs 1992 graduating class. Both have maintained perfect 4.0 grade point averages while completing associate of science degree requirements at CEU. Davis and Bills will each deliver a valedictory address at the June 5 commencement ceremonies on the Price campus. Davis, a 1990 graduate of Carbon High School, is the daughter of Ray and Donna Davis. She is currently employed as a secretary for James Banasky Insurance in Price. At CEU, she served as the to address graduating class co-valedictori- ans ASCEU financial secretary. r She is a member of the campus business club, Phi Beta Lamda. She competed in two-yea- business competitions, earning the first place award in accounting at the 1991 National PBL Conference held in California. She was also a member of the CEU forensic and debate team. Davis plans to attend Utah State University and earn a degree in accounting. Bills is a 1985 graduate of Manilla High School in Daggett County, where he participated in track and wrestling. At CEU, he was a member of PBL. He earned second nlirp awards at state compoti several awards he earned were two Aimed Forces Expeditionary Medals for serving twice in the Middle East. He was also awarded two Battle Efficiency Awards and the Joint Task Force tions in accounting, economics and business principles. He plans to attend the national competition in accounting this summer. Prior to attending CEU, Bills served in the U.S. Navy for six years. He completed basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Station, where he was a member of the Color Company, the top graduating company. He earned a nuclear electrician certification in Florida, then attended a prototype school at the atomic reactor site in Arco, Idaho. Bills served as master of arms and held the rank of E5 during his tour of duty on the USS Long Beach, the Navys 'Vet md onlv nuclear cruiser Among Award. Bills is currently attending Southern Utah University, where he is treasurer of PBL and pledge president of Sigma Gamma Chi. After earning his bachelor of science degree, he plans to earn a masters te come to life in Native American dances, while the ballet features popular selections like Vivandiere and Fanfare for a Common Man. The music department has an excellent set of instrumental and choral performances planned. Students will perform four concise ensembles of early period chamber music in the student activity center ballroom through the evening. CEU English instructors Nancy Takacs and Merry Adams will read poetry in the Little Theatre. Takacs, an instructor on the Price cam- UK degree at Stanford - University. (graduation Contra tufa tions Festival shows off CEU artists at work The fine arts take center stage at the College of Eastern Utah during Art Splash 92 Friday, May 29. Art Splash is a mini arts festival where patrons may sample the diversity of the visual and performing arts at the college, according to Brent Haddock of CEU humanities. The event is the culmination of a full year of work for our students and faculty, Haddock explained. Each will some feature department of the years best work at various locations across the campus. A convenient schedule will allow patrons to enjoy each of the activities in increments throughout the evening. They include the student art exhibit, dance productions, music performances, poetry readings and theatre productions. Dance will be featured in the Geary Theatre. Native American students from the CEU San Juan Center in Blanding will alternate performances with the Ballet Repertory Ensemble. The colorful costumes and folklore IK (jraduation is here, and zvere aft excited include a variety of art and course projects. Their performances will be held outdoors throughout the evening in the patio area north of the library. The best work of CEU art students is currently on display in Gallery East. During Art Splash 92, the gallery will be open for patrons to view the exhibit and meet with many of the students. All works exhibited are juried and forms drawings, paintings, print, sculpture and ceramics. Admission to Art Splash 92 is free, and refreshments will be served throughout the evening. Jensen J pus, has given readings throughout Utah and Wyoming. Her poetry often reflects her love of nature and western landscapes. Adams teaches at the San Juan Center. She is currently writing a book about Utah landscapes and has won first place in the Utah Arts Writing Contest. Scenes from the recent production of Loves Labours Lost will highlight appearances by CEUs theatre students.
