Show 8A Sun Advocate, Price, Utah October 4, 1988 T uesday, Judge Ruggeri holds circuit court session Pursuant to plea bargaining negotiations, Stephen John Currier appeared in Seventh Circuit Court Sept. 28 and waived the right to a preliminary hearing on one count of sexual abuse of a child, a second degree felony offense. information Amended resulted in the reduction of an initial first degree aggravated sexual abuse of a child charge and the dismissal of an additional class B misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor offense against the defendant. Judge A. John Ruggeri ordered Currier bound over for arraignment in Seventh District court on the lesser, second degree felony charge. Waiving a hearing, James preliminary Suwalski M. was bound over for arraignment in district court on one count of forcible sexual abuse, a second degree felony. Troy Carnesecca David waived the right to counsel and pleaded guilty to failure to remain at the scene of an injury accident, class a B misdemeanor offense. The court referred Carnesecca to the Utah Department of Corrections for a presentencing evaluation and recommendations. Daniel A. Golding appeared for pronouncement of judgment on one class B misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUI). The bench levied a $900 fine, inclusive of legislative assessments plus victim restitution and treatment fees, and imposed a 60 day jail Suspending 56 days of the jail time. Judge Ruggeri allowed Golding to satisfy the remaining 4 days with community service under the direction of state corrections and ordered the defendant to complete a drinking drivers educational series at Four Corners Mental Health center in addition to six at an alcohol sessions rehabilitation facility. The court fined Lance Raymond Meyer $1,000 and imposed a one year jail sentence on one count of issuing bad checks, valued between but, suspending $500 of the fine and all jail time, placed the defendant on supervised probation for a period of one $250-$1,00- 0, year. After one class B misdemeanor telephone harassment charge was dismissed, Wanda Denise Johnson entered a guilty plea on one count of giving false information to police officers, a second class B offense. The bench referred Johnson to the department of corrections for a presentencing investigation. In lieu of imposing a $500 fine in a drivers license suspen-sionrevocati- case, Judge Ruggeri ordered Richard Kay Herzet to complete 200 hours of community service under the supervision of state corrections. Approving the defendants own recognizance release from custody in the Carbon County Jail, Judge Ruggeri appointed Carbon County Public Defender Mark Tanner to represent Lori Lynette Patterson in criminal actions on five separate, third degree felony charges.
