Show 6B Sun Advocate, Price, Utah Tuesday, November 3, 1987 The lesson By BRIAN Staff at this school is love HECKERT writer Love is that special ingredient that makes the world go around. Its a unique ingredient because, unlike others, its readily available in anyone and can be given to everyone, and its without cost! Nowhere is love more apparent than at the Castle Valley Center. It is evident in the patience of a teacher or the effort of a student. It is evident when a father holds his son as he takes part in physical therapy in the jacuzzi. The students at the center learn slower, than most other students. However, they are not slow to show their love. These kids have more love in one finger than most adults have, according to Edna Romano, principal of the center. Theyll come up and say, I love you, and theyll hug you without knowing who you are, Romano said. Thats a good feeling. There is no competition or prejudice Romano said. (among the students), They love everybody. What they say is, Love me...and they give a lot of love. Walking through the center, the visitor becomes immediately aware of the school atmosphere. The center is much like any other school. But there is something unique the genuineness of everyone; there are no fronts. Its a school where everybody helps each other. Romano said that the new centers location is ideal because the students are no longer isolated. Members of the community know that the Center is there. Thats important to the students and the community because love shouldnt be isolated. t f, |
