The fees are on a sliding scale based on the salary for the position. The fees range from a low of $25 for Justices of the Peace and $36.62 for the county commission seat to a high of $166.10 for the county clerks and sheriffs offices. There are a large number of offices up for election this fall. Utah Senator Jake Garns seat will be up for election as will all three members of Utahs delegation to the U.S. House of Representatives. Locally, some Carbon County residents will vote in the race for State Senator from district 26. That seat is currently held by Vernal Republican Glade Sowards. Two seats in the Utah House of Representatives will be on the ballot in Carbon County. They are currently held by Ray Nielson and Mike Dmitrich. In county races, two county commission seats will be up for election. They include the seat held by Commission Chairman Lee Semken and the four-yeseat held by Commissioner Floyd Marx. In addition, the clerkauditor position held by Norman Prichard is up for election, as is the county treasurer position two-ye- held currently def- icit reduction program.
