Show IB TT Xfl THE ARTS luo Hale Center Offers A Non-Sto- p SOUTH SALT LAKE. If keeping an audience in gales of laughter for two solid hours is a sign of success, then the Hale Center Theaters production of See How They Run is a hit. A packed house gave the comedy top marks Monday as an excellent cast took the audience through the hilarious tale of mistaken identity in the vicarage of Merton Cum Middlewick. The Philip King book offers one of theaters best comedies and every twist and turn of the plot brought a laugh. The story concerns an American wife of an English vicar and the comedy of errors that occurs when first her former stage partner, then a Russian spy and two other churchmen come to the manse. With the actor and spy both in disguise, the play has four men in clerical garb, all unkown to each other, tiding to find the real Rev. Lionel Toop, known only to the audience and his wife and maid. Jared Shaver is directing the comedy. All parts are double cast, and Mondays show featured Mary Williams in a standout performance as the maid, Ida. Joan Johnson gave a good performance as Miss Skillon, the village old maid and gossip whose inebriated condition gives rise to much of the comedy. John Lesko was properly proper as the Rev. Lionel Toop and Erin Smith g&ve us a charming, distraught Penelope. Bob Bedore was a lively and very likable Clive, wanting only to get back his real identity and Alan Mangum played the Rev. Arthur an Humphrey, upstanding, thoroughly confused cleric. Merrill Dodge appeared as the Bishop of Lax, Penelopes uncle, scandalized at the goings on in what should be a respectable and Burton Yuen vicarage handled the role of the Intruder. Shaver did double duty by appearing as the Sergeant, a role he filled well. With all parts double cast, any or all of the above may play alternately with other actors Richard Wilkins, Melanie Wilkins, Annette Wright, Ryani Bowen, Wanda Lindstrom, Randy Hickman, Blayne Wiley, Mark Dietlein and Vic Groves. including Riot Of Laughs favorite This play is a long-tim- e and with directors, actors audiences and loses none of its charm in this production.
