Erznoznik found balloons could solve her problems while offering fun and fancy creations to others. Her Rubber Bubble is now a going concern. . . Jane Rubber Bubble Lets Dreams Come True For Local Woman by Connie S. Burrup Green Sheet Staff Writer WEST JORDAN. During the summer of 1980, Jane Erznoznik sat under a tree at a nearby park watching her three little boys romp around on the playground equipment. "There ought to be something I could do for money," she sighed to her companion. "Its frustrating to see people open businesses and earn money doing things I know I can do and be better at, she added. Now several years later with an additional three children, the struggling entrepreneur within Jane has finally blossomed. Last week the speaker at an LDS Relief Society luncheon held in downtown Salt Lake was presented a large helium balloon fashioned into a hot air creation hovering over a basket filled with flowers. This centerpiece had been designed by Jane Erznoznik. The Rubber Bubble, a balloon business entering its fourth year, is just one of the interests Jane concentrates her time on. Operating out of her home, Jane takes orders and creates balloon gifts for people throughout the valley. Her delivery orders have taken her from the Ogden area to locations in Utah County including one stop at the State Prison. "I was really scared," she remembers, "they searched my car as I went in and checked my ID again at the main entrance. I took the balloons to an employee in the prison mail room. He loved it and so did the prisoners who were working there." Jane got the notion to sell balloons after a particularly frustrating time trying to balance the family budget. Husband David operates his own custom designed furniture, cabinet and remodeling business. When the work is there, things are good, says Jane, but sometimes there are long stretches between paychecks. Jane recalls taking part of a $20 gift sent to her from her mother-in-laand using $8 to buy some regular and mylar balloons and a few sticks. She balloons the as presented Valentine gifts to a few of her closest friends. i "It was such a relief and joy that I could remember my friends," she remembers. i Within a couple of days, Jane announced to her family that she was going to sell balloons for profit. t By the next week, she had acquired a helium tank, an assortment of balloons and rolls of Colorful ribbon. She was in Jane spent that first year taking orders for birthdays and not remembrances, holiday realizing just how involved she had become. "One Valentine Day, I did over 400 balloons and 26 special mylar balloons. I know I was really tired, but didnt realize how much business that was until checking at a balloon business located in a local mall and found that they had barely done 400 balloons themselves for that holiday. "I knew that this little homespun thing had ended up as a real thing," she laughed. Now, the Rubber Bubble offers personalized creations of all kinds and colors. Janes latest creation is her own designed hot air balloon basket. It comes complete with a three foot balloon floating above a basket filled with flowers, stuffed animals, candy or potted plants. Whatever the customer wants, said Jane. Jane has delivered balloon bouquets for prom invitations, jokes, wedding anniversaries, get well wishes and of course birthdays. Her balloon assortment includes mylars for every holiday including St. Patricks Day and Christmas. A new line of balloons, in pastels and shapes can be adapted to almost any occasion. Jane is a busy mother to six children. Active in church and she has work, community supplied the schools and PTA functions with her creations from time to time. Her customers usually call her back again and again for her services. She will create and deliver, if asked, something bright and cheerful from her Rubber Bubble collection. A visit to her home and business site will find a busy organizations, church work, cub scouts as well as another part time job of folding 1200 copper postcards a week at her dining room table. All of this is done while several completed balloons orders float above her head. What will her next venture be? "I dont know, perhaps Ill market my own jams and jellies," she replies wistfully.
