In recent months there havent been many bright spots in Utahs economy. An exception has been the strong performance of Valley Fair Mall since the mails grand reopening in May 1987. Not only has mall business increased steadily since the reopening, but in almost every month, sales gains have been in double digits, said Dick Flack, mall general manager. Although many new businesses have opened at Valley Fair during the past year, Flacks economic figures dont, include revenues stores from those only businesses which have been in operation at least 12 months are included in the comparison. The instruction will continue until the end of June from noon to 3:30 p.m., and children will be served lunch family style as part of the education process. Magna has not had a Head Start Program since the early 1960s, and this new program is by Magna CAP and the Magna Community Council. Since the 1960s the kids from Magna have had to go to Western Hills in Kearns. Salt Lake CAP is in charge of all the centers in the city and county. Currently there are 850 children participating. Income determines eligibility of children who are either low income, or have special needs, with some being physically handicapped, with others having behavior speech disorders, problems or delayed development, Future plans for the center call or installed in size sins one room on the north side of the building, where children will be taught the kinds of things that pertain to health including how to brush their teeth and keep their self-estee- m bodies clean. And Richard makes himself visable by being involved in community events. The Lobatos have also used agencies like Utah Suppliers Development Council and IMPACT regularly to boost their business. Through USDC we have worked with large corporations, said Richard. They, have shown us how they operate their business and they tell us what we can expect in business. Through them we learned all about books and marketing. Another important aspect of business to the Lobatos is having the newest and best products.
