U.S. The House Subcommittee on Government Activities and Transportation will hold a public hearing on Corridor Traffic Study the from 10 a.m.-- l p.m. Monday in the Presidents Room at Salt Lake Community College, State Reps. Boyd Wamick and Michael Waddoups have announced. U.S. Rep. and subcommittee chairwoman Cardiss Collins, will be conducting the hearing. Utah Congressman Howard Nielson, who is also a member of the subcommittee, plans to attend the hearing along with Congressman Wayne Owens. "I urge my constituents on the west side of Salt Lake County top attend this important hearing and to voice their concerns," said Warnick, Rep. a professor of transportation management at Salt Lake Comuni ty College. "The traffic problem along the corridor is getting worse every day," stated Waddoups, who represents portions of the west side of Salt Lake County in the state legislature. "My constituents often find gridlock on and especially at the 4500 and 3300 South exits and entrances." Magna Arts Council Is Scheduled To Meet On Tuesday The first annual members meeting of the Magna Arts Council is scheduled for Tuesday, February 23rd at 7 p.m. in the Magna Recreation Center, 2941 South 9150 West. New appointments to the board of trustees will be made at this meeting, and there will be reports by the finance committee and the board of trustees, according to Mike Retford, president. Retford said that the bulk of 1987 was spent organizing the Arts Council so it could function properly, by establishing bylaws and articles of incorporation. Committees were also organized providing the Magna Community July 4th celebration with live entertainment throughout the day; sponsoring a literary contest; constructing and entering a float in three parades during the .and summer, (successfully procuring partial finds for a sound system for the Top Hat Theatre. Retford said the the Councils for 1988 include a goals for workshop photography children; live entertainment for the Magna July 4th celebration; arts and craft booth for the July 4th festivities; a float for the parades, an artist bank (a compilation of Magna artists); and the production of a quarterly newsletter. "The possibilities of what the council can accomplish this year are limitless," Retford went on, "And we seek input and efforts from residents as we proceed to make this a community which is knowledgeable, supportive, and productive in the arts."
