Fresh from the farm fruit and produce can be purchased directly from the grower during SALT LAKE. Zions Mortgage Company passed the $1 billion mark in loan servicing in July, which makes it the fastest growing mortgage company in Utah. ZMCs 723 percent increase during the past fiscal year also makes it the largest mortgage lender in the state, according to Ron Holmes, executive vice president of ZMC. Since Utahs economic outlook is not cheery, ZMCs $1 billion milestone is particularly significant, Holmes said. Most Utah lenders average $100 to $150 million for a fiscal year, which makes ZMCs growth outstanding. Many of ZMCs mortgages are on Utah Farm Bureau's markets. The market is held at farmers the Farm Bureau center, located immediately west of Interstate 15 on 5300 South. the market will be held every Friday and Saturday from noon until 6 p.m., or until all produce is sold. Phipps, a third quarter computer information systems student at Salt Lake Community College, said the fee covers an exhaustive search based on the individual applicants responses to a detailed question- Besides peaches and pears, consumers can expect to see a wide variety of locally grown vegetables, squash, cucumbers, sweet corn and peppers, according to Reed Balls, UFB director of member relations and commodity activities. Apples and other fruits will also be available. "We believe the farmers market -- is opportunity for our farmers to get a better feel for the types of fruit and produce todays consumers want, said Ball. "They hear directly from the buyers of these products the kinds of qualities they want in them. This helps the farmer to be more efficient by growing a corp that consumers want and will utilize."
