Names of girls chosen to represent Taylorsville high at Girls State activities next month have been announced at the school. Selected by members of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 132 are Linda Smith, Kimberly Southam, Jody Nielsen and Rebecca Lynne McCracken. Miss Smith is the daughter of John and Gwen Smith and a member of National Honor Society, drama club and junior choir. Next year she plans to participate in the Dance Company, concert choir and Spotlight Players. The daughter of Glenn and Linda Southam, Miss Southam is a junior senator and will serve as student school body secretary for the 1987-8year. She is a member of drama club, French club, FBLA, and debate club and served as attendant at Homecoming and at Junior Prom. Miss Nielsen has been a junior class senator, Spanish club president, FBLA junior vice president 8 and seminary council and has been elected a state FBLA officer, and as student body historian at the school. She is the daughter of Leo and Judy Nielsen. Miss McCracken is involved in community sports programs, playing on softball, basketball, volleyball and soccer teams. She is the daughter of Sandra K. Six young men have been selected to repiesent Kearns high at the annual Bos State convention, to be held June 14 21 at Weber State College. Representing KHS will be Kent Johnson, Bill Kenley. Dean Lyle Larson, Dee Ray Mecham Jr Michael Brent Reid and Gary Thor-nock- . Tom and Judy Larson. Young Mecham is the son of Ray and Ruby Mecham, serves on the committee and is a member of debate club and National Honor Society. The son of Diane Melius, the Reid youth is involved in drama and debate club, madrigals, symphony and cheerleading. Thornock is a member of Spanish club and National Honor Society, participates in concert choir and is an Eagle Scout. All expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn more about the democratic system of government and improve their leadership abilities. . The Johnson youth is the son of Robert and Stephaine Johnson and enjoys sports and statistics Kenley, the son of Lynn and Jean Kenley, is a junior class officer and interested in sports, writing and music. Chris Unthank will be the only student finishing elementary school at Bennion elementary this year with seven years perfect attendance. The son of Chris and Bonnie Unthank, he has attended Bennion from kindergarten through sixth grade without missing a day, said his mother. The lad enjoys school, and his other interests include BMX bike racing abd playing drums. .He will attend Bennion junior high next year.
