Hughes of Taylorsville and grandson of George and Britta Nilsson of Sandy and of Ethel Hughes Williams of Oceanside, California. He is a graduate of Taylorsville high and has attended one semester at Brigham Young University. He is a 1986 sterling scholar in music, a member of the Hughes Brothers performing group and is a talented songwriter. Following a honeymoon at an undisclosed location, the couple will make their home in Murray. LaVona was born on May 12th, 1907 a daughter of Owen and Susan Hansen in American Fork, Utah. She became the bride of Mead Gillett on OLD FASHIONED Feb. 14th, 1923 and they became the parents of three living children. They are Julanne (Mrs. Floyd) Coon, Big River, CA; Richard, Magna and Ronnie (Marilyn) also of Magna. Mr. Gillett died on June 13, 1942.
