A pain killing household burn remedy may be used for small burns caused by fire or heat. If the burn is caused by an acid, it should be washed with warm tap water and a solution of baking soda applied. When a dog is scaled by boiling water, he should be doused with cold water. Vinegar should be used if the burn was caused by a caustic. Though all dogs can swim, some are not proficient and even the most capable can drown if they become exhausted. A dog may fall into a swimming pool or deep-side- d pond and not be able to find a foothold to pull himself out. A person should hold the dog up by his hind legs at the hocks to get excess water out of his lungs. Then artificial respiration should be given. The pet should be laid on his side with his head and neck extended and his tongue pulled forward. Push down on the rib cage to release the pressure rhythmically every four or five seconds. By using a cupped hand, mouth-to-nos- e respiration may be administered. Other first aid information to be taught in the class will include how to stop severe bleeding, how to apply a splint for broken bones. To the editor, I read with interest the article in the Salt Lake Tribune written by Jack Fenton concerning the library site controversy in Magna. As a typical staunch supporter of a library downtown who understands the community, I simpcould ly cannot fathom how there in the a not split only be, possibly adcommunity, but in the library ministration, the county planners, as well as the County Commission. As I understand it, in response to the Magna incorporation attempt, the County Commission saw the opportunity to create a Redevelopment Agency using Magna as the target area in the old part of town. They even solicited the support of the Magna Community Council to help them do it. As a result of over two years of work on the part of the Magna Library ad hoc committee and the Magna Community Council, the group discovered that the old part of the community has an identity of being the real Magna and is still just as viable as it ever was. That fact is supported by the study made by Paul Nelson who was commissioned Pleasant Green Historical Society. From the onset, many people believed that the establishment of the Redevelopment Agency was to further sosimply a political ploy And if ambitions. meones political the statement reportedly made by Commissioner Stewart in the article by Jack Fenton is true, i.e. (We need a Flim Flam Man to say come back to Magna), it would seem to support their thinking. How can a commissioner who takes pride in the Redevelopment Agency and the potential of the Oquirrh Loop make such a statement? Up to now the efforts have been and great progress has been made. Now it seems that the situation has moved from the nonpartisan productive arena to an out Continued on page 11 n INSURANCE7AGENTiS.05jl r.YOirffsIffMONTH GUARANTE ONYOURAUTORArES With Liberty Mutual, your auto rates are guaranteed for one full year. It seems to be a foregone conclusion that someone had to start the ball rolling and keep it going, so the county took the first step when they lined up in 1984 and broke the windows out of one of the better buildings in Magna (which they owned) that was built in 1939, and targeted to become the home of the KEARNS Awards and certificates will be presented during the 9:30 a., mass Sunday at St. Francis Continued from page A gingerbread Letters 1 The man then offered the decoy $40, according to the police report.
