Show Presentation Slated Wednesday - THE GREEN SHEET IB Thursday, May 1, 1986 Final Nominees For Green Sheet Awards Named by Michele Bartmess Green Sheet Theater Critic MURRAY. Productions from Cottonwood, Granger, Murray, Olympus and Taylorsville have been nominated for the top two awards In the annual Green Sheet Performing Anything Goes and A Midsummer Nights Dream, Olympus high and My Fair Lady and The Glass Menagerie at Taylorsville high In this the third and final batch of nominations to be revealed, nominees for Audience Appeal, Magic Moment, Direction, Best Nonmusical and Show of the Year (musical) are named Arts Awards competition The awards will be presented Wednesday night in a program scheduled to begin at 7 30 in the Taylorsville high auditorium The awards are for various aspects of high school theater productions at the Green Sheet area schools, including individual acting accolades Cuts from productions that were performed at each of the competing schools will be presented as part of the program It is open to the public at no charge The schools and the shows from which nominees were named include Annie and Harvey at Cottonwood high, The Rea Inspector Hound, at Cyprus, Barnum and On Golden Pond at Granger; Oklahoma ' and The Night of January 16th, Granite, Damn Yankees and See How They frew- ii played extremely well off one another and were nominated in tandem There were several adults who took cameo roles in Murray highs West Side Story, and all were enjoyed by the audience, but none as much as John Williams, who was cast as Glad Hand He earned hoots of approval from the audience Run, Kearns, West Side Story and See How They Run, Murray, Magic Moment Each year the Magic Moment Award is presented for a scene from a musical that reaches near perfection Every aspect from acting to Audience Appeal The Audience Appeal Award may go to an individual or group who seem to have captured the heart of the audience. Three choreography and technical, were costuming and direction comes into play and makes the scene stand out There was a nominee this year from each of the shows nominated The Orphans m Cottonwood highs production of Annie were delightful The stage seemed to come alive when their scenes were played They played off one another and off the dastardly Miss Hanmgan Rima Clark Its A Cottonwood, was performed to Life perfection by those delightful The At Hard-Knoc- k Orphans Granger highs Barnum featured a delightfully choreographed, imaginative peformance of "One Brick At A Time and Nastasha Dunham earned hoots of laughter in their roles as sisters in Damn Yankees at Kearns high. They Granger highs On Golden Pond also featured some incredible performances along with marvelous staging A difficult production, it was flawlessly produced, under direction of Brenda Park A new twist to a popular Shakespearean production, A Midsummer Nights Dream, was offered at Olympus high where the performers were well prepared and audiences were ecstatic with the It was creative masterpiece directed by Douglas N Bishop all-tim- Best Nonmusical Narrowing the nonmusical field down to four nominees was one of A the most difficult tasks the Green Sheet judging team has ever en countered The productions at all eight high schools were incredibly strong this year The judges even felt compelled to add a new set of acting awards from the shows, and felt that they were indeed the best ever, from top to bottom Harvey at Cottonwood high was a delightful comedy, under the direc The award for Best Direction generally, although not always, is for a musical production This years nominees are all from musicals Joan C.
