Members of Copper-hill- s DUP camp observed their 20th anniversary Tuesday with a luncheon meeting and installation of offices for the next two year.s The name of the group was suggested by LuDean Searle, one of the original members. During the past 20 years the group has had five captains. Each was presented a gold rose pin set with a zirconia diamond. Receiving recogniton were Leatha Martindale, first captain of the organization; Clara Roper, Marilyn Standing, accepting for her mother, Alma Harris, who died several years ago; Zella Stanley and Dorothy Bird. A history of each captain was given by other members and a lesson presented by Helen Herb-strit- t. Pioneer songs were sung under the direction of Winona Wright. Following a light supper a large cake was served, decorated with a covered wagon, horse-draw- n carriage and temple, along with the theme, The Desert shall blossom as a rose. Elva Smith represented the Central Company at the event. The group are preparing personal histories and pedigree charts for the camp history book. Historian Marge Petty is compiling an overall history for presentation to the county board next month. Dorothy Bird was installed as captain, her third term in the position. Mrs. Bird also serves as parliamentarian for the West Salt Lake County board and is a hostess at the DUP Museum.
