Show 2 THE GREEN SHEET 24, 1986 Thursday, April Sraxoirlts Lancers' Sixth Best Area State Gymnastics Finish SANDY. A sixth place finish in the team competition was the best for any Green Sheet area team in state gymnastics competition held Friday and Saturday at Alta high school. Granger got the sixth, not all that bad considering the meet combined all 3A, 2A and 1A teams as well as 4A. The Lady Lancers ended up with 166.35 points in Fridays team competition. Judge had the next best effort, finishing 11th with 110.5 points, followed by Cyprus and Kearns, 12th and 13th, with 74.8 and 73.85 points respectively. Entrants from Granite and Taylorsville also took part. In the competition, also judged Friday, Grangers Jennifer Caputa and Tera Isom were 17th and ;I8th. Caputa earned the only medal Jor a Green Sheet team in Saturdays individual competition, placing 12th in the floor exercise with a score of 9.025.. I know, and so do my kids, that we couldve done a little better, noted Granger coach Rhondalee Anderson. We just werent as sharp as we shouldve been in some the events. But we did get sixth in the state, not sixth in 4A or 3A, but sixth for the entire state. Thats not too bad. Granger's final placing is reflected in its finish in the various events staged Friday. The Lancers had the sixth best team score in the balance beam, 40.2; the vault, 43; and bars, 41.9. They finished seventh in the floor exercise with a score of an 8.5. The top individual score in the floor was an 8.9 by Caputa. Cyprus highs best effort came in the vault competition where the Lady Pirates came in 10th with 38.1 points, paced an 8.15 score from Jodi Hoops. Cyprus then got a 7.65 from Roxanne Andrew in the bars. Kearns, which finished with 36.05 team points in the vault, got its best individual performance from Jackie Parton who turned in 7.65. Judge had a 9.5 from Natasha Montoya and a 9.2 from Dawn Bonacci in the vault, but, as in most events, didnt have enough competitors to constitute a real threat in the team totals. The Bulldog ladies did place seventh in the beam, Bonacci turning in an 8.5 and Montoya ah 8.2. Montoya added an 9.05 in the floor and a 9.15 in the bars. Bonacci finished with a 9.05 in the 41.25. Leading the Lancers in the beam were Caputa and Isom, each with 8.3 efforts, and Madalie Burr with an 8.2. In the vault, Isom turned in a 9.15 and Caputa an 8.95, while in the bars Isom scored an 8.85 and Caputa bars. Bucs Beat Oly, Granite l HOLLADAY.
