There were no changes at the top in the weekly Media Prep Poll Monday with Brighton and Provo clinging stubbornly to number one rankings. The Bengals record looms more and more impressive because Region Two has several teams, including Hillcrest and Bingham, who tied for fifth place in this weeks poll. Judge stayed solidly in second behind Provo, despite a scare from Jordan Friday. Cougars Topple Taylorsville For League Win KEARNS. Coach Kenyon Clarks Cougars finally cracked the Region Two win column Friday night, downing a young and struggling 5 on the Taylorsville team Cougar court. The Cougars now face a pair of tough challenges in Bingham and Hillcrest, meeting the Miners on their court tomorrow (Friday) and hostingthe rampaging Huskies on Tuesday. Taylorsville has the league bye tomorrow and will host Bingham Tuesday. Brad Tiffany came off the Cougar bench to spark an 0 run that broke open a tight contest and helped Kearns to a 2 half-tim- e lead and the Warriors could never get back 1 into the contest. John Hatch led the Cougars in scoring with 14 (5, 4x4) and had seven caroms. Clark was also pleased with the play of Taani Tai who had eight boards and six points in a reserve role. The games leading scorer was Warrior Karl Michaelis who tallied 16, all from the field. Kearns has struggled offensively in its early league losses, but hit 46 percent from the field and 14x18 charity tosses. The Cougars also the Warriors'30-22- . Both teams played solid floor games and stout zone defenses. Warrior Coach Dan Leatherwood is in a building year, and a lot of his young players are seeing quality time. The Spartans now have just two games left in the regular season with their next action scheduled for today (Thursday) against West Jordan at the Cottonwood Heights recreation center.
